Kumbo Public Library Becomes a Reality

Honesdale Rotary agreed to support a campaign to raise funds for the Institute’s Global Humanitarian Project in Cameroon, West Africa-the Kumbo Public Library Project. Honesdale Rotarians are calling on clubs from around the world to join hands with them to collect funds to establish the first public library in Kumbo serving a population of more than 50,000. The library is targeted for completion by Winter of 2008.

“Along with the United States, we’ve received contributions from Africa, India, and Japan,” said Honesdale Rotarian Betty Caruth. “Participants in Honesdale Rotary’s Fundraising Raffle, include mostly non-Rotarians who reside in Bangladesh, Senegal, India, Tibetan Government in Exile and individuals from around the United States. We’ve really succeeded in joining hands with others from around the world to make this project a reality.”
